Risks of Grinding Toughened Glass
While we generally recommend replacing toughened glass if there are fitting issues, we understand that sometimes clients request grinding as a special case. It’s crucial to be aware of the inherent risks involved:
- Breakage During Handling: The glass can break when we remove it from its current position or during re-installation after grinding.
- Breakage During Grinding: The act of grinding itself can cause the glass to shatter.
- Delayed Breakage: Even if the glass doesn’t break during grinding or installation, the compromised integrity can lead to spontaneous breakage shortly after the work is completed.
Our Policy on Grinding Toughened Glass
Due to these significant risks, we cannot cover the cost of replacing the glass if it breaks during or after the grinding process. However, we will waive all installation and labor charges in such situations.
By proceeding with glass grinding, you acknowledge and accept these risks. We encourage you to carefully consider this information and ask us any questions you may have before we begin the work. We’re here to ensure you make an informed decision.

Glass Griding Services
Toughened glass is incredibly strong, but that strength comes from a specific manufacturing process. Grinding its edges after it’s been toughened can compromise this strength, leading to potential breakage.
